CEO Natalia Stephen was one of the 218,000 visitors from over 120 countries at the K 2013 trade show in Düsseldorf, Germany. The K show – which ran from October 16 to 23 – also featured 3,200 exhibitors from the ranks of raw material producers, processors, and machinery producers. Some 8,100 visitors were registered from the U.S. and Canada 1,300 more than at K 2010.

According to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, the new Comprehensive Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between Canada and the European Union (EU) is the “biggest deal our country has ever made” – and some of Canada’s largest manufacturing associations agree.
Canadian economic analysts agree the CETA pact between Canada and the 500million strong EU market is the most ambitious Canada has even attempted – larger even than NAFTA in scope – since it encompasses virtually every facet of economic activity.
Canadian Head of Mission in Dusseldorf, Mr. Leslie Thomas Reissner, announces the Canada – EU Trade Agreement at K Show 2013 Canada Night event, organized by The Canadian Plastics Industry Association (CPIA) and the Canadian Consulate in Dusseldorf.
The Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME), the country’s largest trade and industry association, is also singing CETA’s praises. “This is the Wayne Gretzky of trade deals,” said CME president and CEO Jayson Myers. “This landmark agreement gives Canada a competitive advantage over other leading nations around the globe, providing us with preferential access to the world’s largest economy. CETA is our economic power play in the global arena.”
